Along with lots of other blogs, this site is now part of Oxford Bloggers. Hello, Oxford!

Oxford Crime Map

Oxford Crime Map

The BBC has a nice interactive map of crime across Oxford. It’s good to see I spend most of my life within the major crime hotspots, those being the centre centre and the triangle formed by Cowley Road and Iffley Road (although I did use to live in Manchester, so I can’t really complain). Incidentally, Cowley Road is described in the commentary as “vibrant”, which now appears to be the accepted media euphemism for ‘has black and Asian people in it’.

Apparently Oxford was chosen because “in terms of demographics, and particularly in terms of levels and types of crimes, it is typical of the national picture.” Oxford is typical in terms of demographics? For some reason I thought the percentage of over-privileged Pimms-drinking punting students in the city was higher than the norm.

Made in Oxford

Made in Oxford

From the 2nd until the 31st October, one of my photographs will be on display at the Jam Factory in Oxford as part of an exhibition called Made in Oxford. It’s a collection of shots by some lovely and talented members of the Oxford Flickr group (and myself), so please do come along and take a look.

It’s free entry, although you should bring your chequebook just in case you should wish to purchase any of the fine works on display. Especially mine: do you have any idea how much it costs to get a photo decently framed?
